Beneath the cross of Jesus
A hymn for Easter, with lyrics by Elizabeth Cecilia Clephane (1830-1869) and tune by Ira D Sankey (1840-1908). Miss Clephane was a Scottish poet who penned several hymns. Mr Sankey, sometimes known as the "sweet singer of Methodism," collaborated with several others, including Dwight Moody, Fanny Crosby and Philipp Bliss to produce many well-loved hymns.
